Uniform

Uniform

We have a dress code at The Galfrid School which we encourage all children to follow. The expectation for pupils is:

  • Grey school trousers, grey shorts or grey skirt

  • A white polo shirt or a formal shirt and school tie

  • Dark grey school jumper

  • Black school shoes (Children are permitted to wear plain black trainers - no logos in other colours)

  • In summer: as above, or optional white and pale blue school dress

We offer branded uniform for those who wish to purchase it, but it is not compulsory.

We ask that, for safety reasons, children do not wear jewellery other than one pair of plain ear studs.

Shoulder length hair should be tied back with a plain black or blue band.

Second‑Hand Uniform

Good-quality second-hand uniform, is available to purchase from the second hand uniform shop on the last Friday of the month, from 3pm in the Community Wing. Cash only please.

PE and Swimming

To ensure children get the most from their PE lessons it is important that they are dressed appropriately. School PE kit is as follows:

  • Black shorts
  • White t-shirt
  • Black trainers or pumps
  • Black tracksuit bottoms in winter
  • The Galfrid School PE sweatshirt

For swimming, children will need a swimsuit.

PE kit should be kept in a bag which is clearly labelled with the child’s name.

Shoulder length hair should be tied back with a plain black or blue band. Plain ear studs must be removed or taped.

Please ensure all items are clearly labelled with your child's name and class.

OPAL

As an OPAL school, we go outside to play in all weather conditions, with the exception of during thunderstorms and high winds.

In winter pupils need:

  • wellies or waterproof shoes / boots
  • a waterproof (not ‘showerproof’) coat
  • waterproof trousers if possible
  • a hat, scarf and gloves
  • a named change of clothes to keep in school (including socks). This is especially important for younger children.

In summer pupils need:

  • a hat
  • suncream

For Wildwood, pupils need:

  • a long-sleeved t-shirt
  • a jumper
  • trousers
  • wellies or waterproof shoes / boots
  • a waterproof (not ‘showerproof’) coat if it is likely to rain
  • waterproof trousers if possible
  • a hat, scarf and gloves (according to the weather)
  • socks to wear with wellies

Note that trousers and long-sleeved tops are required all year round to protect children from bites and stings.
