Attendance

Attendance

We wish to promote behaviour that will contribute to maintaining the values of The Galfrid School and create a climate which supports outstanding learning and achievement.

High attainment depends on good attendance. Irregular attendance leads to pupils missing important lessons and therefore not fulfilling their true potential; it also places children at risk and may result in their being drawn into patterns of anti-social or criminal behaviour. Therefore we take the issue of attendance very seriously and do all we can to obtain very high attendance from all our pupils.

To promote good attendance and to emphasise its importance, the School offers rewards weekly (through class attendance competitions), half-termly and termly. Please read our Attendance Policy for more details.

Sickness and Absence

If a child is too unwell to come to school or may pass infection to others, they should not attend school. In this case please inform the school office before 9.00am on the first day of absence. If your child continues to be absent for more than 2 days, please inform us further.

Our Attendance Policy provides further details on term time absence. If a parent needs to request term time absence they must inform the Headteacher in writing using the Absence Request Form. Absence Request will not be authorised unless there are exceptional circumstances.
